2010 Mexican 1000
Just a few months after my mastectomy and during the painful process of expanders, I was privileged to be a part of the 2010 NORRA Mexican 1000. It was my first week off of my pain meds, but the event was so exciting I didn’t even notice! So many new friends and wonderful memories were made, and it was a time I’ll never forget.
The very first sanctioned off road race in Baja was put on by NORRA in 1967 by Ed Pearlman. Over 2 decades later his son, Mike Pearlman, revived NORRA and the Mexican 1000 with the help of Mike’s daughter Pam. The event honored the heritage of the sport by being a vintage rally, and some of the most famous Baja racers and vehicles showed up to participate in this historic event. I am proud to have been a part of the event, and will always consider NORRA part of my family.
