THE WOMEN WE HONOR

Michelle M, friend of Team Courage, shows that humor and love can get you through anything! She's an inspiration to us all!

Survivors, Previvors, Fighters, and breast cancer angels are all so important to Team Courage. They are driving force behind everything we do. We race in honor of these women. To show the world the impact breast cancer, or the chance of developing breast cancer, has on so many women we will be adding names to our truck for everyone to see. It’s our way to show the world that we honor each of you.  Each badge of honor will read like this:

Heather Berger-Previvor

~Honored by Michele M

We will be using only last initials if that is preferred, and we will be honoring survivors, previvors, fighters, and angels. PLEASE, if you have women you would like to honor, we would be proud to add them to our truck. We want to honor every woman that we can. Just post the information below and we will add your honor badge to our truck. We will be posting photos of the honor badges before our next race on October 8th.

Tribute on our truck to Rose, an angel. Bryan donated his race truck to our team in honor of his mom.

Thank you for always standing beside me and taking care of me all of those weeks that I couldn’t take care of myself, and for letting us give up more than we really should to make Courage happen. All of this is such a journey of the heart. I have learned so much, but would still be lost without you and Jamie, and all of my BFFs that have stood beside me too. I am a very lucky woman.

  31. Marcella Ruland

    Michele,
    Thank you.
I found your YouTube site Feb 2010 during one of my sleepless nights. I had been diagnosed with DCIS in a 5cm area in the right breast and then they found LCIS in a 4cm area in the left. I had bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction with tissue expanders. I had expected the pain, but I was not prepared for how I looked and the feeling that I was a freak. Watching your videos, I saw a beautiful woman; the surgery had not changed that. Your videos helped me see that my breasts did not have to define how others see me – it took a bit longer for me to be able to look in the mirror – baby steps.
I found your blog and I found a community of women how were at various stages of the same journey I was on. When doctors and surgeons acted like I was being a wimp to complain of pain with the tissue expanders, I discovered that I was not the wimp, there were many brave, strong women who felt the same things.
Michele, you have made such a difference. Your courage and willingness to show people exactly what you were going through has been so important to my emotional recovery. And now you are honoring your breast buddies! You are wonderful!
